It’s always wise to check out the local surf shop when your visiting as there are always so many awesome things to see and do that are usually pretty hard to find. For Rainbow Beach it’s Double Island Point! The only way to get there is by 4X4 along the beach at low tide and although only around 13km away is a mission for many visitors without a 4X4. Rainbow Beach Surf School take surf trips up there daily and a very good price and we offer Surfing lessons and lift and hire to this amazing surf break.

So why is Double Island Point so good for surfing? well for one it’s not crowded. The places harder to get to are generally like this and to be able to surf in such a pristine National Park wave is invigorating. But this isn’t the biggest draw card, the long sandy point break is known on it’s best day as Australia’s longest wave breaking for well over 2km’s. Yep, leg burners and often our learn to surf instruction are giving first time surfers rides for a few 100 meters. This is really unique and is perfect for fast progression giving more time on the waves to progress faster.
